    Survival Skills

“Are having good grades enough to survive in the ever-developing competitive workforce?”

Almost 35% of those aged 16 to 24 are jobless with about 947,000 unable to find work.

The rate of unemployment in the country has risen by over 200,000 in the past three months (24th January 2010) alone; bringing the total of unemployed people to 2.47 million – the highest it has been in over 14 years. The unemployment rate stands at 7.9% today – up from 5.6% one year ago. These statistics are due to various factors. The Survival Skills workshop aims to combat those factors by providing young people with the skills and abilities they need to operate confidently, effectively and independently in life, their communities and work. Survival Skills equips young people with the following functional skills:

    • Effective Interview skills
    • Successful and dynamic application forms writing
    • Presentation Skills
    • Communicating Effectively
    • Understanding your leadership style
    • Managing teams effectively
    • Developing transferable skills
    • Develop a global business perceptive.
    • Time and task management skills
    • Critical and independently thinking skills
    • Time and Outcomes

Individuals possessing these skills are able to progress in education, training and employment and make a positive contribution to the local and global communities in which they live and work.
