The rate of unemployment in the country has risen by over 200,000 in the past three months (24th January 2010) alone; bringing the total of unemployed people to 2.47 million – the highest it has been in over 14 years. The unemployment rate stands at 7.9% today – up from 5.6% one year ago.These statistics are due to various factors. The Survival Skills workshop aims to combat those factors by providing young people with the skills and abilities they need to operate confidently, effectively and independently in life, their communities and work.
